Advent Devotional- Christmas Eve

December 24                         Christmas Eve                                          Gift

The word for today is GIFT. There are many scriptures about gifts both given and received. In this season it is appropriate to look at the gift of the baby Jesus. Jesus’ conception was a gift to Mary from God and his birth was God’s gift to the world promised from the beginning of time to bring salvation to those who accept him. At his birth, shepherds brought gifts of worship and the magi brought gold, frankincense and myrrh. So what can we say a gift is, a gift is a thing given and then received with out expectation of a return. Now at the end of Jesus’ ministry he gave his life as a gift of sacrifice so we would not need another sacrifice ever again. Our acceptance of this gift completes the road to salvation and begins the gift of sanctification, which is a gift of a journey of a life time.
