December 16 Wednesday Annunciation
“You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus” Luke 1:26-38
Rejoice, sing, lift your voices and cry that our liberator is coming! He brings us peace and justice. He is the way forward. Repent, believe and live the gospel of his kingdom! Now there is hope; pain and suffering are not forever. In Christ there is health, comfort and joy.
Now is the time for change, now is the time to laugh together, work together and build a world on new foundations: foundations of love, respect, and service. We extend our hand to the poor. Let us embrace the weak, defend the victim. Let us sing together the hymn of equity. The Messiah, the Christ, is coming and with him the triumph of truth over falsehood, the victory of inclusion over discrimination, the triumph of the plow over the tanks and bombs, the triumph of prosperity over poverty, the triumph of fraternal community over the empire.
A humble young woman will have her baby and this will be the right one of God. He will love and serve, he will proclaim the kingdom of love. He will be murdered but God will vindicate him. His life and message are actual. There is hope, we can be new people; in Christ we can build another world on new foundations. Let us sing for peace.
