Pastor Edgar, Annette Martinez, and Claudia Moore worked hard today wrapping up boxes for the Penn Quarter Neighborhood toy drive. In past years Penn Quarter residents were asked to bring a toy to the neighborhood gala, and Calvary helped distribute toys to needy children at Christmas. Recently, though, no gala has been planned. Area condominium associations and office buildings are helping collect toys anyway. Thanks, neighbors! If anyone would like to join in the fun, feel free to drop at toy off in the church office:
Give a Deserving Child a Gift for the Holidays
Members of the Penn Quarter Neighborhood Association are helping Calvary Baptist Church provide Christmas gifts for needy children.
For over a decade those attending the Holiday Gala have brought presents for underprivileged children attending Calvary Baptist’s after school program. In more recent years, we collected more than enough gifts and Calvary then distributed the excess to others running programs for children. Last year was the first year we did not have a Holiday Gala. But we still came together as a neighborhood to provide gifts for the various programs facilitated by the church and the church’s partners, so let’s do it again this year!
Containers will be collected on or before Tuesday, December 22. Please bring new, unwrapped gifts, preferably educationally oriented and non-violent, appropriate for ages 1-12.
