What a week – this past Sunday (September 21) we celebrated and recognized all of the people that make Calvary such a special faith community. Members that joined in 1958 – celebrating a half century of membership, members that joined in 2008, members that have been members for more than 50 years, members that teach Sunday school, members that help in the office, members that serve on committees, and boards – in other words we really celebrated everyone that is a part of this faith community called Calvary. It was also a Sunday when everyone was asked to make a special effort to invite a friend to church, encouraged to share that sense of what it means to be part of a faith community. Yes, Calvary is a place to worship, to learn, to ‘re-create’ or re-charge ourselves each week, but it is also a place where we work together, serving the world that surrounds us, helping people that have a physical or spiritual need. We don’t always get it right, but we always give it our best effort.
So if you are in the neighborhood – or even if you are not in the neighborhood – and looking for a great faith community stop by and see us. I think you will be glad you did.
