Our poor Nats…they couldn’t even win with Calvary’s support (from some of us at least!). But we had a great time anyway. Beautiful weather, great friends and Lucy made her first trip to the ballpark. We’ll have to plan another one soon!

Camp Fraser- Week 1

Calvary’s annual summer camp, Camp Fraser is underway and the kids are having lots of fun! Swimming, hiking and sleeping in the cabins were some of the highlights I was told when I headed out there Wednesday afternoon…

Capital Pride

Calvary attended the annual Capital Pride Street Festival and packed a booth. Shouts of “we’re a different kind of Baptist” were met with interested glances and conversations on Pennsylvania Avenue.  Special thanks to Mike Overby and Courtney Rice for making our booth happen this year!

June 7 Worship

We had much to celebrate on June 7 in worship. We celebrated with Anabel, Luis and Wilson in their baptisms. We welcomed four new members and we blessed the Butlers as Pastor Amy heads out for sabbatical this summer. Below are a few pictures. What a beautiful worship service to begin our summer!

In the last week, we learned more about what it means to be Baptist (with Rosalie Beck,  Stan Hastey, Brent Walker and Jeff Haggary), welcomed the Beyond Borders team and Tony Campolo to Calvary, worked hard out at Camp Fraser for a workday, celebrated our 147th Anniversary with a hymn sing and luncheon. What a week! Below are pictures (hopefully in chronological order!) of all of our special events:

Harold Ritchie invited us to his “summer home” in Bushwood, Maryland for the Church Council Picnic and Staff Appreciation Luncheon. Allyson Wisdom was in town and it was great to spend time with her too. We had a delicious lunch (too much food!) and even spotted Patrick the peacock!

Fire!

The Day of Pentecost is this coming Sunday.  To prepare, busy hands have been crafting individual bulletins for Sunday!

Don’t forget to wear RED to church.
