Introducing…the Calvary Middles!
Thanks to everyone who came to our first Middles event September 19! Special thanks to Nancy and Phil for hosting,
and to all the people who shared their games and their laughter. I may not have ever heard so much laughter in one place! And, I personally, learned a lot of interesting things about some of the members of my spiritual community (sorry, you have to actually come to the events to learn the secrets that were shared).
We will stick to our goals of having at least one event quarterly, and alternating just plain fun events with learning events, so if you are a Middle, want to be a middle, or have a great idea for an event, contact me any time at arsace26@gmail.com or look us upon Facebook and become a Fan (just search for Calvary Middles).
Our upcoming plans:
A Holiday Open House at Susan and Julie’s – early December, date to be announced soon
A Private Museum Tour — tentatively for January, date to be announced soon
So, if you weren’t there on the 19th, there is still plenty of room to join up and participate, but folks, the fun and fellowship train has left the station, so ALL ABOARD!
We had a fabulous organizing meeting for the “As Yet Unnamed Group” on June 28 (thank you to everyone who was there), and now, we have some business to attend to…so please read on. As you continue, you will be asked to vote on some key organizing issues as we prepare for our first activities (and you still get to vote even if you couldn’t come to the meeting).
Item 1: From our discussions, it was clear that the group is interested in two types of activities: first, activities just for fun, and second, activities that are educational in nature. We agreed to schedule an activity a quarter, and as our long term goal, we will have an annual service project.
So, vote no. 1 (these are the fun activities): One the list below, choose what you would like to do:
And vote no. 2 (these are the learning activities):
Item 2: We also had a lively discussion about the name for our group, and well, we are just too creative – more ideas than we can handle, and no consensus. Remember, pay attention to the acronym. Just to review some of our discussion: while we might prefer a name with no reference to age at all, we need to choose a name that is clear enough that newcomers won’t have trouble deciding which group to join.
So, take a moment, and pick your favorite from the list below:
Item 3: We agreed that our first activity would take place in September, so the last vote is for the best date for that activity! Please pick a date that works for you. We will shoot for a time of day that is early eveningish…but it will depend on the activity:
Item 4: Finally, if you have any additional questions or comments, or if you stumbled into this page and just don’t know what we are talking about (but would like to know), please email me, Susan Sevier, anytime, at arsace26@gmail.com.
I am so excited. Voting continues until August 5, so vote early and often!
