Capital Pride

Calvary attended the annual Capital Pride Street Festival and packed a booth. Shouts of “we’re a different kind of Baptist” were met with interested glances and conversations on Pennsylvania Avenue. Special thanks to Mike Overby and Courtney Rice for making our booth happen this year!
June 7 Worship

We had much to celebrate on June 7 in worship. We celebrated with Anabel, Luis and Wilson in their baptisms. We welcomed four new members and we blessed the Butlers as Pastor Amy heads out for sabbatical this summer. Below are a few pictures. What a beautiful worship service to begin our summer!

In the last week, we learned more about what it means to be Baptist (with Rosalie Beck, Stan Hastey, Brent Walker and Jeff Haggary), welcomed the Beyond Borders team and Tony Campolo to Calvary, worked hard out at Camp Fraser for a workday, celebrated our 147th Anniversary with a hymn sing and luncheon. Church Council/Staff Appreciation Picnic

Harold Ritchie invited us to his “summer home” in Bushwood, Maryland for the Church Council Picnic and Staff Appreciation Luncheon. Allyson Wisdom was in town and it was great to spend time with her too. We had a delicious lunch (too much food!) and even spotted Patrick the peacock!
